Bahrainis.. The Worst Paid in The Region !

9 04 2007

I stopped reading newspapers a while ago, nothing good seems to be reported. EVER ! ๐Ÿ˜ก An HR case study caught my eyes yesterday which was related to the sub

ject of payroll difference & raises in the gulf nations, the report came to a well known fact which sadly indicates that Bahrain; although had very good economic growth also had the worst record between our sister nations when it came to improving payrolls.

Bahrain also has huge negative differences between higher employees and the ones at the middle and beginning of the employment ladder when it comes to raises and salary differences ! The case study which was conducted by two firms; states that people holding jobs at the public sector suffered the most ! Where they received growth of a wee % 7.5 while the other nations enjoyed a massive % 31 ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Finishing the report, and drinking my coffee in one gulp (very bad idea) I didn’t know how to react to this; shall I laugh or cry ? I mean how on earth can a country achieve economic growth and have high levels of inflation while the payrolls stay the same ? Especially everyday joes who are not able to coup with the ever increasing prices of powder milk ? YES you’ve read it ! its not a typo. Powder milk is more expensive over here than a full tank of petrol ! I kid you NOT ! ๐Ÿ˜€

Although the case study didn’t bring anything new, seeing the well know facts printed in the rags made it feel like a ton of bricks have just been dropped on me ! Oh well, off to the cash machine ! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Not surprised, ain’t the first time this has happened nor will it be the last. Funny thing is that we have the useless parliament which gets more creative at demonstrating stupidity everyday. Add on top of that the fact that Bahrain officially has the 3rd highest per capita in the gulf after Qatar and the UAE standing at $25,300.

Funny world it is…

I hope there’s enough money coming out of that cash machine ๐Ÿ˜‰

Amen Munther!

You should really laugh so hard that you’d cry on this situation. Bahrain, once a leader in the high standards of living, now slowly crawls behind all the GCC countries with no hope in site for anything getting better.

It’s a sad, sad situation.

The more I think of it, the more am disappointed.

Hashim, I feel you, we were once the best, billed as Singapore of the mideast, well, this vision looks in tatters now really unless we swing the pendulum the other way from now on. Fingers crossed, all I can say.

Gaz, 1 liter of oil is cheaper than 1 liter of water, true. So to translate that in pounds given the current rate, you can get 7.3 liters of oil with ยฃ1.

Well maybe on a brighter note and not sure how much I’d believe this, but according to the GDN, the unemployment rate has dropped from 16.5% to 3.8% in two years. If this is true, let’s hope it’s the start of the revival of optimism.
